Buttons & Thread Bracelet/Necklace

What to Bring:

  • 6 to 8 buttons for bracelet (buttons must have either 2 holes or 4 holes; holes must be large enough for steel crochet hook to fit through; do not bring buttons with shanks)
  • size 10 crochet cotton thread
  • steel crochet hooks in variety of sizes
  • white plastic rings (slightly larger than your buttons, so that button will fit inside the ring even after it has been covered with crochet thread)

What to Bring:

Crochet project that you can work on while chatting; any crochet problem or question that you would like to ask the group for ideas and suggestions

Ponchos

What to Bring:

  • worsted weight yarn
  • size I or J crochet hook
  • If you are going to make a poncho, choose enough yarn (2200 yards total) in three colors of your choice
  • If you are making a sample, you will need three colors of yarn

Warm Up America! Squares (7-inches by 9-inches)

  • Edge your crocheted rectangles with single crochet edging to make it easier to join them together for an afghan. Leave a long tail of yarn for sewing.
  • Finished size of each rectangle, including the single crochet edging, should be 7-inches by 9-inches.

Beaded Necklace by Hertha Fouch

  • bring at least 1 yard of prestrung beads(#6 or #8 seed beads) on #10 or #20 cotton thread. More beads
    may be needed to complete bracelet.
  • bring a small steel crochet hook
    appropriate for your thread (#6 or #8).

Wire & Bead Necklace by Jeanne Webster

  • bring a B or C crochet hook and a spool of 28 gauge "artistic wire, LTD". Get at least a 15 yd spool. (It also comes in 40 yd spools). Gold or silver 28 gauge wire may also be used. You will probably need to go to a specialty bead store to find this wire.
  • A variey of beads are needed. Suggested beads are as follows: twenty 6mm pearls, six 6mm bycone crystals, package of E beads (#6 beads), and a few larger
    beads.
  • Before class, string 30 inches of beads on wire in random
    order (mix sizes and color for pleasing arrangement.)

Christmas Ornaments:

a wreath, a Christmas tree, a present, and a candy cane.

What to Bring:

  • #1 steel crochet hook for working main color (two strands of #10 cotton thread held together)
  • #6 steel crochet hook for working accent color (one strand of #10 cotton thread)
  • approximately two 50-yard lengths of #10 white crochet cotton for main color
  • approximately 20 yards of #10 red crochet cotton for accent color

You may use any colors you like. If you don't want to use thread, you can use yarn and an appropriate hook. The ornaments will end up larger if you use yarn.
