Carol Ventura's Tapestry Crochet Beaded Bag

MATERIALS LIST
One Ounce light-colored Size 3 crochet cotton
One Ounce dark-colored Size 3 crochet cotton
750 light-colored #8 seed beads
460 dark-colored #8 seed beads
Steel crochet hook size 1 (2.75 mm)
Scissors, Stitch Marker, Beading Needle, Tapestry Needle

Preparation: Load the light-colored beads onto the light-colored thread, and the dark-colored beads onto the dark-colored thread, using the beading needle.

Note: If you are not comfortable with bead crochet, then the project may be worked without the beads. If you are not comfortable with working with thread and a steel hook, then you may substitute yarn and a larger hook.

July 14 Warm Up America afghan squares (7"by9")
Bring your 7-inch by 9-inch crocheted or knitted squares to join into afghans for the Warm Up America charity. Use acrylic yarn so that the completed afghans will be machine washable and dryable. Work a round of single crochet around your square to make joining easier. Leave a long tail of yarn to sew or slip stitch the squares together.

Supplies for shrug: 12 ounces of any worsted weight yarn; size J crochet hook (gauge: 12 sts = 4 inches, 6 rows = 4 inches); tape measure, pen to take notes, tapestry needle, scissors

Oct. 13

"Crochet Granny Squares for the 21st Century: It's Hip to Be Square"

Free class will be offered to chapter members at Sewing & Quilting Expo at Pheasant Run, St. Charles, IL. Instructor will be Kim Werker, crochet editor for Interweave Press and founder of crochetme.com.

Class will be 1:30 to 3:30 PM.

Supplies: Variety of worsted weight and DK weight yarns, crochet hooks appropriate to work with the yarn, tape measure, scissors.

For those who want to go to the Expo, there will be a $5 admission fee, which is 50% off the regular admission fee of $10.00.

Wear your chapter T-shirt, if you have one.
